What is Sculptra?

Sculptra consists of poly-L-lactic acid. A natural substance that is also produced by our own body. So it is 100% organic. Sculptra stimulates the skin to produce collagen (connective tissue), which reduces the depth of the wrinkle. Depending on age, lifestyle, skin quality and your expectations of results, one to three treatments are required.

How does Sculptra work?

The fluid is injected into the deepest layer of the skin (deep dermis) and ensures renewed production of your body's own collagen. Because your own collagen production is initiated, the structure and volume of your skin will recover and the face will have a lifting effect. The liquid is fully absorbed by the body after a few days and collagen production then starts after about 4 weeks. The build-up of collagen will gradually replenish facial volume over a period of 4 weeks to 3 months and reduce deeper wrinkles and lines. The skin feels fuller, more elastic and firmer.

Everything you need to know about Sculptra treatment
Which areas can be treated with Schulptra?
With Sculptra, a full-face treatment can be done and it is ideal to be injected into the area of the temples, cheeks, or jawline. During the consultation, the doctor will discuss which treatment area is important to you for the desired result.
How quickly will I see results from the Sculptra treatment?
Sculptra focuses on restoring volume in the deepest layers. The surface result will therefore appear subtly and give more effect when the treatment is repeated. After 4 weeks, collagen production starts and you gradually begin to see visible results. After 3 months, the effect is more visible.
How long will the effect remain visible?
The collagen created by the treatment stays in place for 2.5 to 3 years.
Is a Sculptra treatment painful?
The treatment is generally not experienced as painful, although the pain experience varies from person to person. Standard anaesthetic fluid is added to the Sculptra. Half an hour after the treatment, you will no longer feel numb. There may be some stiffness in the jaws a day later. This will disappear on its own after 1-3 days. The treated area may feel a bit dull. However, this is more tangible than visible.
Is Sculptra safe?
Sculptra is a safe treatment and gives good results, as long as it is performed by an experienced KNMG cosmetic doctor and with the right technique. The treatment is FDA approved and has been used worldwide since 1999. Sculptra is made of a synthetic material, poly-L-lactic acid, which is naturally absorbed by the body.
I read stories about collagen bumps after Sculptra on the internet, can this hurt?
Sculptra is designed to be injected into the deepest layers of the skin, where collagen can develop properly. Our experienced doctors are trained to perform Sculptra treatments properly. The risk of collagen accumulation is therefore negligible.
Is there downtime after treatment?
There is no downtime after treatment and the risk of a bruise is very small. Any redness at the locations of the pricks can be camouflaged with mineral makeup. We recommend that you stay out of the sun for the first week after a Sculptra treatment and not use a sauna or tanning bed. You should massage the treated area for 3 days, 3 times a day, for 3 minutes so that the Sculptra can be absorbed evenly. The doctor will give you these instructions after treatment.
Can I combine Sculptra with fillers and botox?
Each of these treatments is used for a different purpose; Relaxation, volume recovery, or accentuation. Sculptra can therefore be combined well. The combined approach ensures that your own natural appearance is maintained.
How much does Sculptra cost?
