Oorlelcorrectie bij Van Lennep Kliniek

Earlobe correction

Torn or torn earlobes can occur due to years of use of (heavy) earrings. The holes tear out, which can lead to loss of your jewelry, but also to the disfiguring appearance of the earlobe (s). In addition, it is possible that your earlobes are stretched due to wearing “stretchers” and you no longer want to wear them. Fortunately, this can easily be remedied with a minor procedure under local anaesthesia. An earlobe heals very nicely, with no visible scar. By means of an earlobe correction, the earlobes can be repaired and even punctured again after a few months.

The treatment

In the case of a torn earlobe, the tissue around the tear is removed and the skin is brought together and stitched. Keep in mind that the scar can always remain visible. Ask your treating doctor about our Environ Colostrum Gel, which is very suitable for healing the wound and scar properly.

In the case of an earlobe that is too large or a reconstruction of the earlobe, the location of the incision and the scar will depend on the type of reconstruction. This will run at the bottom of the earlobe if reduced. After the reconstruction of the earlobe, the wound edges are stitched together with soluble sutures and covered with a plaster. After the procedure, you can go home immediately and resume your daily activities.

Outcome

After the procedure, the skin around the earlobe may be sensitive. The skin is still under tension. It is possible that the earlobes are still red, swollen and more sensitive or numb one to two weeks after the procedure. All these complaints are not worrisome and disappear after a few weeks. The result varies by skin type, but in general, the scars from an earlobe correction will often be barely visible over time. In the case of treatment for a torn earlobe, the scar is in a more visible area. This scar will remain visible. After a recovery period of a few months, the skin and underlying structures are often strong enough again to possibly make new holes for earrings.
