Client instructions before and after care Sculptra treatment

For the best effect with Sculptra® to reach, it is important to get all your doctor's advice about aftercare after each treatment with Sculptra® to follow up. When you undergo a treatment with Sculptra, we will do everything we can to make the treatment run as smoothly as possible. In addition, we also need your cooperation! Below are a number of instructions. By following the instructions, the treatment is more comfortable for you, recovery is faster and they promote optimal end results. That is why it is important that you read the instructions below carefully and follow them carefully.

Before treatment

Pictures are taken first. Any makeup will be removed. You must always be able to show a valid ID so that we can include the BSN number in our administration and carry out an age check. During the consultation, the doctor asks you about your medication use. Using blood thinners right before treatment can be dangerous and lead to complications. If you are taking such medications, you can discontinue at least 1 week in advance in consultation with your prescribing doctor (doctor or specialist) if you wish. The most common blood thinning medications include: Acetylsalicylic acid (Aspirin, Ascal-38, Ascal-Cardio), Persantin, Plavix, Sintrom, and Marcoumar

During treatment

If desired, the area to be treated will be anesthetized. The treatment takes about 30-45 minutes and you can go home immediately afterwards.

After treatment

You can just do everything the way you're used to. You can cleanse and care for your skin in the normal way and possibly use (mineral) makeup or concealer. If you are sensitive to bruising and/or swelling, it is wise to cool. Apply a “cold pack” to the treated facial areas several times a day for 5-10 minutes 24 hours after treatment to reduce swelling. Always wrap the “cold pack” in a cloth first, avoid direct contact between the ice and the skin. As long as you are being treated with Sculptra, you should massage your skin (firmly) daily, using circular movements for 5 minutes, 5 times a day for 5 days (or as prescribed by your doctor). Before the massage, use a suitable cream to reduce friction. Avoid exposure to the sun and/or UV lamps until any swelling and redness have disappeared. It is important that you protect the treated area well from the sun with a good UV protection factor (factor 30 or higher).

Audit

After 1 — 2 months, a follow-up treatment can take place. Final check-ups take place in consultation with your treating doctor.

Remarks

Sculptra stimulates collagen production; this production takes time! It can take at least 6 months until results are visible.

Swelling

After the treatment, there may be bruises (bruises) and some swelling, which will disappear by themselves. Sometimes the treated area feels a bit strange because of the anaesthetic, which disappears within a few hours. It is important that you protect any bruise properly. Under the influence of sunlight, a bruise may become discolored or remain visible longer. You can use cold compresses (cold packs) against swelling. From day two, you may feel muscle pain in the jaws for a few days, which can even result in difficult (re) opening your mouth. This is normal and will improve within a few days.

Pain relief

If you want to use a pain reliever, you can do so; you can take paracetamol 500 mg, a maximum of 6 tablets per 24 hours.

Work and sports

You may be able to work again immediately after the treatment. Exercising for the first 24 hours is not recommended because of the possible increase in swelling
