Client Pre- and aftercare instructions Plasmage

When you undergo a plasma treatment, we will do everything we can to make the treatment run as smoothly as possible. In addition, we also need your cooperation! Below are a number of instructions. By following the instructions, the treatment is more comfortable for you, recovery is faster and promotes optimal end results. That is why it is important that you read the instructions below carefully and follow them carefully.

The day of the treatment

At the time you make the appointment for plasmage, we will send you a doctor's prescription for EMLA, anaesthetic ointment. You can pick it up at your own pharmacy. Apply EMLA to the treatment area 60 minutes before the scheduled appointment. Apply it generously and generously so that it can take effect. Pictures will be taken before the treatment.

During treatment

The length of time depends on the size of the area to be treated. A treatment for a fibroid or mole takes 15 minutes. A treatment for eyelids or an area around the mouth can take 30 - 45 minutes. You can go home immediately after the treatment

After treatment

The following symptoms after plasma treatment are common:

  • The treated skin may show some redness and swelling
  • You may experience a burning sensation, similar to a sunburn. This disappears after a few hours
  • After treatment, small crusts are visible, which will fall off on their own after 5-7 days.

What you can do to promote healing:

Cooling
It is recommended to cool the treated areas to prevent any swelling. This can be done, for example, with an ice pack or a bag of frozen peas. Make sure there is always something between your skin and the cooling element (gauze or washcloth). Do this regularly for up to two days, 10 minutes at a time.
Pain relief
Pain relief after treatment is usually not necessary, but you can safely take paracetamol. Check the package insert to see what amount of intake is desirable.
Cleansing
Keep the treated area dry for at least 2 days, so do not apply a day cream. It is recommended to clean the treated area with water and/or a mild cleanser. Your doctor can recommend which cleansing to use. It's important not to rub. Pat the skin dry with a clean towel.
Healing process
The healing process of the treated area causes very small scabs on the tiny holes made with plasma in your skin. These will come off on their own (do not scratch or rub). These scabs last for about 5-7 days and then disappear on their own. The “new skin” may still be slightly pink in the beginning. This will adjust automatically.
Sunlight/sun protection
The treated skin is extra sensitive to UV radiation. Therefore, avoid direct sunlight for 14 days from the treatment day. You should protect the treated area from the sun with UV protection for at least 3 months. This prevents the development of pigment spots. We do not recommend using the tanning bed. Your doctor can advise you on the right UV protection.
Sauna visit
We do not recommend a sauna visit in the first 14 days after the treatment.
Sports
We do not recommend visiting a sauna in the first 14 days after the treatment. As long as there are still visible scabs in the treated area, we recommend not exercising intensively.
Makeup
After 48 hours, you can apply makeup again, but preferably as little as possible as long as there are visible scabs, and preferably use mineral makeup to promote the healing process.

Audit

A follow-up appointment will be made after 6 weeks. The effect can then be largely assessed. Skin tightening due to the stimulation of collagen and elastin will continue for a few more months. The treatment can be repeated.
