Pre- and Aftercare for IPL-, Fractional- or Clearlift Laser

Pre- and Aftercare for IPL-, Fractional- or Clearlift Laser

1. Before treatment

The following is important for the results of the treatment to be optimal.
• During the IPL and fractional laser treatment, the skin must not be tanned by the sun, tanning bed or self-tanner. The result can be negatively influenced by activation of your pigment cells (melanocytes). If you have nevertheless acquired a tan, it is better to postpone the treatment for a month. If you show up for your appointment too tanned, the treatment may be postponed. Note that otherwise hyper- or hypopigmentation (dark and/or light spots) may occur with tanned skin, skin that is not protected with SPF, some medicines, or skin that is sensitive to it.
• Inform us about your current product use, such as the use of self-tanners, with each treatment. This is because these have a stimulating effect on your own pigment cells and as a result, pigment spots can come back and the result of the IPL/laser treatment can be negatively influenced.
• If you have undergone treatment elsewhere with another specialist in the past 4 weeks or 4 weeks after the last treatment, please inform us about this. We recommend that you do not combine them with other treatments during our treatments. In consultation, we will work with you to create a customized treatment plan.
• It is not allowed to wax the skin one week before treatment until 4 weeks after the treatments. Use of retinol is not recommended 3 days prior to treatment.
• Inform us if you are taking medication with each treatment. Certain medications may interact with an IPL or laser treatment.
• Tell us if you want to become pregnant or if there is a change in your health condition. You should not be treated with the IPL or laser during pregnancy.
• Inform us if you are sensitive to a cold sore (herpes infection), or other skin condition, even if it has occurred correctly after treatment. Sometimes we prescribe preventive oral antiviral medication in consultation. If you have an active cold sore at the time of treatment, it should be postponed or another treatment zone can be treated. Always contact one of our employees beforehand.
• Appear at the appointment without makeup.

2. During treatment

The treatment takes a total of 30 - 90 minutes, depending on the size of the treatment.
area and type of laser.

First of all, the skin is cleansed and degreased. You will feel the following during the treatment:
• During a Clearlift laser treatment, you will feel a slight increase in heat.
• With a Fractional Laser Treatment, you will feel moderate to strong heat generation.
• The IPL treatment feels like a rubber band being shot against the skin. The skin may be treated with a wet compress or a cooling gel, which can reduce unpleasant sensations

After the laser treatment, a cream with SPF 50 is applied, which also immediately acts as an emollient.
has an effect.

3. After treatment

• Couperose IPL treated: skin may be red and feel warm for a few hours. If the warm feeling increases, you can cool the skin at home with a cool pad. Very occasionally, a bruise can also occur if the couperose is very extensive. You can also retain some moisture in the face during the first few days. If the swelling is too severe, ask for a prescription for medication.
Pigment IPL treated: skin may be hot and red for a few hours. If the warm feeling increases, you can cool the skin at home with a cool pad. You can also retain some moisture in the face during the first few days. After treatment, the pigment may become darker than it was originally. Over time, the pigment will decompose and be wipeable and in other places it will slowly lighten/fade. This process usually takes one week.
Skin renewal and tightening with the Clearlift laser: The skin may be slightly redder and feel a bit warmer in the first 2 hours. Depending on the depth with which you are being treated, small red subcutaneous dots may become visible. These will fade within a few days.
Skin renewal and tightening, or scar improvement with the fractional laser: The skin is a bit redder immediately after the treatment and will feel warm and burning during the first day. You can cool the skin at home, but that is not necessary. The skin will become increasingly red and may peel over 2 to 3 days. Small scabs may also be visible. This takes a few days to a week to disappear.

4. Advice and product use AFTER treatment

Avoid products with high concentrations of acids or retinol (vitamin A) for at least 5 days. Cleansing, mild toners, hydrating products and UV protection are allowed.

Specific for fractional laser treatment
The skin should not be cleansed in the first 12 hours. After that, we recommend cleansing the skin twice a day with water and a mild cleanser. Do not rub the skin and pat dry gently.

Please note:
• Do not wax or epilate the treated area during the treatment course.
• For up to 48 hours after treatment, avoid: intensive exercise, hot shower, sauna, swimming and bathing.
• The optimal result of the treatment only becomes visible after a few weeks/months. The process in the skin takes time and collagen stimulation improves up to 3 months after treatment. Taking a cure is therefore recommended. You get the most effect from the repetition treatment with an average of 4-6 treatments.
• This treatment can be repeated every 4 to 6 weeks.
• Once again, for all treatments, too much UV exposure must be avoided and therefore an antioxidant and SPF50 should be applied every day to prevent discoloration. Hyper- or hypopigmentation (dark or light spots) can occur with tanned skin, skin that is not protected by SPF, some medicines, or skin that is sensitive to them.
• Jane Iredale mineral makeup may be applied immediately after the treatment. The treatment can also be completed with an SPF 50 with a touch. For all treatments, except the fractional laser, mineral makeup will be able to immediately disguise any redness. This allows you to get back to your daily activities immediately.

5. Subscription

For almost all indications, multiple treatments are required to achieve the desired result. The result will not be permanent, because the skin can suffer continuous damage (sun, stress, smoking, air pollution). It will thus be necessary to repeat treatments to maintain and maintain the result. We offer IPL laser treatments in a cure form.
